Privacy
This site has no accounts and sets no cookies of its own. The CTC Team runs it. If you have a question about your data, email [email protected].

The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store:
- your email address;
- when you signed up, and which version of the signup wording you agreed to;
- whether and when you confirmed your address;
- how you found us, if the link said so: campaign tags in the URL, the site that sent you, and the page you landed on.
We use your address to email you about the book’s launch and the occasional update before it, and nothing else. The rest tells us which channels bring people to the site.
You’re only on the list once you click the link in the confirmation email. If you never do, we delete your signup after 30 days. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we don’t email you again. To have it deleted completely, email us.
To limit abuse of the signup form, we count signup attempts from each IP address. We store a scrambled, keyed version of the address rather than the address itself, and delete it within an hour.
Why we’re allowed to
We email you because you asked us to, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing. We run the abuse check because we have a legitimate interest in keeping spam off the list.
Who else handles it
We use two service providers, and they handle your data only to do this work for us:
- our hosting provider, which serves the site, stores the waitlist, counts visits and runs the bot check on the signup form;
- our email provider, which sends the confirmation and launch emails.
Both are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the UK and EU. Where it is, the transfer is covered by standard contractual clauses in our agreements with them. Email us if you’d like to know who they are.
Analytics
We count visits with our hosting provider’s analytics, which works without cookies and doesn’t follow you across other sites.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected]. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to your data protection regulator. In the UK, that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
